FUNCTION OF DELHI STATE HAJ COMMITTEE.

ROLE OF STATE HAJ COMMITTEES:

State Haj Committees work as per guidelines of Haj Committee of India and their role is limited to invite applications from the intending pilgrims and forward them to Haj Committee of India together with the related documents. All the related information received from Haj Committee of India / Haj Cell (MEA) / Consul General of India (Jeddah) is also communicated to the intended Haj Pilgrims. State Haj Committee also organise Orientation / Training Programme for the intending Haj Pilgrims as per the guidelines of Consul General of India through trainers with the help of Video, Audio Visuals & Ulemas. Delhi State Haj Committee (DSHC) performs all these functions very promptly and efficiently.

 

FUNCTIONS OF DELHI STATE HAJ COMMITTEE:

 

Delhi is one of the major embarkation Centre of Haj pilgrims in India. Thus apart from serving Haj pilgrims of Delhi, it also performs extra work as embarkation centre Haj Committee. The pilgrims from the states such as Western Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Union Territory of Chandigarh and Delhi proceed on Haj from Delhi. Each pilgrim is normally accompanied by 10 to 20 relatives on average to see them off. Thus, at a time, 15 to 20 thousand people stay at Haj Manzil, Asaf Ali Road, New Delhi- 11002  and at adjacent Haj Camp at Masjid Dargah Syed Faiz Elahi and Ram Lila Ground. DSHC work round o clock during haj season,  shoulders enormous responsibility and makes arrangement for stay, drinking water, sanitation, inoculation, medicines and free transport from Haj Manzil to Indira Gandhi International Airport at the time of departure and arrival.

Every efforts are made to make their stay comfortable in Delhi with the active support of Government of NCT of Delhi and other concerned agencies/ Local Bodies.

 

ARRANGEMENTS OF ACCOMMODATION:

 

Delhi State Haj Committee made adequate arrangements of accommodation  for the pilgrims and their relatives at Haj Manzil and in the Haj Camp at Dargah Syed Faiz Elahi & Ram  Lila Ground in front of Haj Manzil for departure period.  and put up a Calcutta Type water proof pandal, where facility of a large number of toilets and bath rooms, drinking water, adequate light, public address system, information counter is provided. CCTV Cameras are also setup for the safety major of Hajis.

 

SANITATION ARRANGEMENTS:

 

Special arrangements are made to prevent for keeping Haj Manzil and the camp neat and clean. Adequate security arrangements are also made to the best satisfaction of people.

INOCULATION:

 

Delhi State Haj Committee provides inoculation facility not only to the pilgrims of Delhi but also to the pilgrims of all other states who departed from Delhi. This facility is available to the pilgrims through out departure period at Haj Manzil. About 4500 pilgrims are inoculated during the Haj season at Haj Manzil.

MEDICAL FACILITY:

Adequate medical arrangements are made for the pilgrims at Haj Manzil and also for their relatives during the entire Haj season. Medical teams of Govt. of  NCT of Delhi, Municipal Corporation, and Charitable Medical Centres provide medical assistance round the clock.

FREE TRANSPORTATION FACILITY:

Delhi State Haj Committee provides free transportation facility to the pilgrims from Haj Manzil to I.G.I. Airport at the time of departure as well as at the time of arrival.

INFORMATION COUNTER:

An information Counter is opened for the convenience of the public at Haj Manzil and additional Staff is deputed there at 24 hours service.

ASSISTANCE TO STAFF OF HAJ COMMITTEE OF INDIA:

Delhi State Haj Committee extended all possible assistance to the staff of Haj Committee of India during their stay in Delhi. Delhi State Haj Committee provide all sorts of facilities, which are required by them. Phone, Fax, Computer & Photostat Machine facility are also made available for smooth functioning of the Haj Camp.

 

VOLUNTEERS:

 

Volunteers of Delhi State Haj Committee are always available at the time of departure as ll as arrival of the Chartered Haj flights and helped the Haj pilgrims to complete Airport formalities, clearance, transportation of luggage etc. Their self less services are highly appreciated by the pilgrims.

 

DEPARTURE FROM IGI AIRPORT:

 

In Delhi Haj operation is jointly managed by Haj Committee of India and DSHC. Delhi State Haj Committee is always involved in all decisions about arrangements of departure and arrival flights at IGI Airport as it is the responsibility of DSHC (as committee of the embarkation point) to look after the North Indian Haj pilgrims at the Airport in Delhi and make the departure schedule a successful operation. There are several flights every day till morning to evening. Volunteers also use to work hard day & night and attended almost all the flights and helped the departing pilgrims in a vast way. The staff of Delhi State Haj Committee hard work 24 hours at the Airport also. The tea, biscuits etc. are also provided to the Haj pilgrims at the time of arrival by Delhi State Haj Committee to refresh them.  

 

FIRE SERVICE:

 

24 hours fire service facility is also provided as a safety major.

 

RAILWAY RESERVATION COUNTER

:

 

To provide comfortable return journey to the pilgrims and their relatives from Delhi to their hometowns, a computerized Railway Reservation Counter is arranged at Haj Manzil. It proves a great help to the Hajis who had performed long and arduous journey from Jeddah to Delhi.

 

Delhi State Haj Committee is grateful to Delhi Government for (directly or indirectly) extended financial aid, help and kind co-operation in this pious work of handling about more than 20000 pilgrims from 7 States departing from I.G.I. Airport, New Delhi through Delhi State Haj Committee.
